The 2d Engineers' first four months in Korea may be described as unusual and heroic in that the battalion, in addition to performing its engineering activities in an outstanding manner, was committed as infantry three times; Pohang Dong (Aug.1950), Yongsan (Sept. 1950) and Kunu-Ri (Nov. 1950). Time and again the engineers proved that they were as good at combat as they were at engineering activities. During the entire length of the Korean War, the officers and men of the 2d Engineer Combat Battalion, whether in combat as infantry or in carrying out their regular engineer responsibilities, served with "Ardor and Tenacity."
